History

As the sun rises over the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, the morning mist fades to unveil one of America's greatest hidden treasures, Blackberry Farm. Its 4,200 acres have been a mountain haven and tranquil escape for family, friends and guests for more than 70 years as it evolved into a luxurious resort of breathtaking scenery, gourmet cuisine and pleasurable pastimes.

In the 1930's, Florida and Dave Lasier were enthralled by the majesty of these mountains and, on a trip from Chicago to the Georgia coast, discovered the perfect setting for their dream home. In 1930, while selecting just the right location, Florida snagged her silk stockings in a thicket of blackberry bushes, and the name Blackberry Farm was born.

In 1976, the charm of Blackberry Farm captivated Kreis and Sandy Beall and inspired their own dream of sharing a magical property with good food and friends. Kreis made Blackberry the family's home and opened the beautiful property to the public as a six-room country inn. The Bealls' vision for Blackberry Farm became a reality and began to create a tradition of Southern hospitality, gourmet cuisine and cherished experiences. Through the years, Blackberry has welcomed guests from the far reaches of the globe as well as nearby neighbors, with the genuine Southern hospitality and personal attention that have become the estate's hallmark. Today, Proprietor Mary Celeste Beall continues and pushes the family's tradition of hospitality and service.

More than 40 years ago, Blackberry Farm was founded on the idea of creating a home with good friends, family and good food. Today, Blackberry continues to share its Southern hospitality and a true sense of place with all that visit. History

The Beall family, known for their visionary success and excellence in hospitality at the award- winning property Blackberry Farm, expanded their commitment to the Great Smoky Mountains region and continued their tradition of offering elevated hospitality with the opening of a new property in 2018 – Blackberry Mountain. Sandy and Kreis Beall opened Blackberry Farm in 1976 as a charming six-room country inn. Their son, Sam Beall, stepped into the role of Proprietor in the early 2000’s to continue the Beall family’s dream of creating cherished experiences and sharing traditions of Southern hospitality. Sam’s vision and inspirational commitment to his work grew Blackberry Farm into the world-renowned establishment it is today. Sam’s love and appreciation for delicious cuisine, great wines and sharing memorable moments with family, friends and guests alike shaped the foundations for the standard of service at the Farm and now at the Mountain.

More than a decade ago, the Beall family and other longtime friends purchased the land that would become Blackberry Mountain. The families had a passion for protecting the land in the area, placing more than half of the land into conservation in 2009.

Following Sam’s untimely passing in 2016, Sam’s wife, Mary Celeste, became Proprietor and committed to continuing the Beall family’s work. She embraced the responsibilities of expanding possibilities and providing magical experiences and has now led, along with her father-in-law Sandy Beall and the Blackberry Farm team, the largest expansion of the company to date with the creation of Blackberry Mountain.

Together Kreis, Sandy and Mary Celeste carry on Sam’s legacy with the highly awarded Blackberry Farm team. With an unwavering commitment to the land and the highest quality of excellence, the adventure continues with new life on Blackberry Mountain.

We first began producing beer in 2011, selling our products to Blackberry Farm guests and a few select restaurants in the Southeast. In response to increased demand for our beers, we moved into a larger production facility in 2015 and expanded our distribution. We are now available in 38 states, along with international distribution in Canada, Taiwan, and Europe.
